Full Job Description

The NHS North East Essex Alliance Medicines Optimisation Team is expanding and seeking 1 x 37.5 hours per week enthusiastic, self-motivated Pharmacy Technicians who would like to join our friendly and innovative team. Prior experience within this sector of pharmacy is preferred but not essential as you will be provided with close peer support and professional development to help you succeed.

We are a multidisciplinary team consisting of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and appliance nurses and we pride ourselves on our commitment to supporting the professional growth and development of every team member. We adopt a flexible approach to working patterns, offering a mix of practice-based, remote and office working to empower team members to optimise their performance and deliver.

You must be a qualified Pharmacy Technician and a registered member of the GPhC to be considered for this position. It is essential you have access to an appropriate means of transport to travel independently., Have knowledge and understanding of the ICB Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) and support its implementation at practice level.

Participate in the delivery of one or more CIP projects.

Have knowledge of guidelines and policies developed in response to NICE or NHS England publications and directives such as new/revised clinical guidelines, low priority prescribing and self-care and support their implementation at practice level.

Assist in the dissemination of information and advice to GP practices, care home staff and provider organisations regarding all aspects of medicines and prescribing.

Build professional, trusted relationships with practice and PCN teams to ensure effective communication on issues relating to prescribing and population health needs.

Deliver education and training to a range of clinicians, including GPs, nurses, and pharmacists.

Analyse practice prescribing data from a variety of sources to identify key areas for improvement in safety, quality, and cost-effective prescribing. The post-holder will require excellent communication and influencing skills to challenge prescribing practice, whilst building ongoing and trusted relationships with practice staff. This may require significant mental effort.

Provide support and information to practice and PCN teams in response to prescribing queries at a practice level.
