Full Job Description

The Job involves a variety of roles within the remit of the club. You will be required to work alongside professional & Enthusiastic staff from Skids 4 Kids and other multi-professional outside agencies to support in the delivery of activities, daily routines and any other personal requirements for children aged 3-16 with differing abilities. The Play Worker role would be to observe and monitor children's play that encourages every child to reach their full potential and beyond. To conduct high standards of provision, in conjunction with Seamer & Irton School observations are welcomed, but not vital, for those children under the age of 5. This is to ensure the requirements for the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework are met, but also assist along with school's requirements. You will be required to work 7.30-8.50 am Mon-Fri & some 3-6pm sessions. Throughout the holidays more hours will be offered within the times of 7.45-6pm Mon-Fri.,

  • Observe and monitor children's play activities within the setting and on the playground.

  • Keep records on individual children, including information about activities, and medications administered (if needed).

  • Instruct children in health/safety and personal habits such as eating, drinking and toilet hygiene.

  • Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games, arts and crafts. Use initiative and independent decision making.

  • Assist in the implementation of behaviour management strategies keeping records of any behavioural issues.

  • Accompany children to and from school safely.

  • Provide a warm/inviting ethos that promotes community cohesion.

  • Sanitize toys, play equipment and maintain the cleanliness of the setting.

  • Show a commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices.

  • Conduct in a professional manner keeping good links between parents/carers and outside agencies.

  • Safeguarding the welfare of the children by Securing and promoting a safe environment.

  • Ensure the health, safety and security of the children at all times.

  • Report any health and safety issues as part of the risk assessment policy to the senior managers.

  • Report any concerns/complaints regarding children, staff and volunteers as soon as possible.

  • Take and report messages in a professional, friendly and confidential manner.

  • Deal with general enquiries in a professional and appropriate manner, take and record bookings and provide correct information with regards to the policies and procedures of the setting.

  • Provide support to all staff members acknowledging when to intervene when dealing with children behaviour.

  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental issues in children and bring them to the attention of the appropriate people.

  • Attend appropriate staff development meetings/ staff appraisals/ and any relevant training.

  • Keep up to date and conduct all duties in line with the policies and procedures.
