Full Job Description

· Ensure all care and support for our residents is carried out in line with The Dower House policies and procedures in order to achieve efficient and effective resident focused care.

· Maintain efficient communications within the care team. Ensure effective liaison between all nursing and care staff and other departments in order to maintain a unified approach to residents' care.

· Provide line management and supervision of care staff to ensure they are supported to complete their duties in line with their roles and responsibilities.

· Always ensure duties carried out during your shift are carried out in a correct and professional manner.

· Always act in accordance with the scope of your professional practice, taking accountability for your actions and working in accordance with the NMC code of conduct.

· Strive to support and embed best practice in all areas of care to ensure our residents receive the highest level of care in line with their wishes and preferences whilst always ensuring their safety and welfare.

· Ensure Registration with the NMC is maintained at all times and actively participate in reflective practice and revalidation events.

Nursing Care

· Provide leadership for all care staff to ensure the general care and welfare of our residents is paramount.

· Provide clear and accurate information in handover sessions for all staff to ensure the safety and welfare of our residents.

· Accurately record information including daily records, care plans and administrative information such as incidents and accidents and audits to ensure the safety and welfare of our residents at all times.

· Provide nursing care as required to support our residents including personal care as required.

· Provide sound clinical leadership in the home in the event of an emergency or untoward incident including falls, ill health of residents and serious events such as fire or flood.

· Administer medication at specified times in accordance with The Dower House policies and procedures, ensuring a person-centred approach at all times.

· Ensure safe monitoring, storage and use of medications at all times.

· Ensure clinical waste is disposed of in the correct manner.

· Take responsible for producing resident's care plans which are individually tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each resident.

· Ensure care plans are updated and maintained as a true reflection of resident's needs in the Nourish care planning system.

· To act as resident's advocate at all times and be accountable for your actions in line with the NMC Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures at The Dower House.

· Ensure resident confidentiality in line with GDPR.

· Recognise the importance of infection control and assist The Dower House to maintain high standards.

· Liaise appropriately with other Healthcare Professionals, family members and significant others with regards to the health and needs of residents.

· Be aware of and act within guidelines and regulations set out in the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and regulated by the Care Quality Commission including Key Lines of Enquiry and Regulated Activities Regulations 2014.

  • Experience:
  • Nursing & Midwifery Occupations: 3 years (preferred)

  • Nursing home: 3 years (required)
