Full Job Description

We're currently recruiting for an MOD Training Programme Manager for UK MOD contracts within the Training Operations (UK) team based in our Helicopter Training Academy in Yeovil. The primary focus of this role, is to be responsible for the delivery of UK MOD contracted programmes for both acquisition and in-service; to schedule and budget, whilst delivering excellent customer satisfaction. Contracts span across all training elements, including; Synthetic Training Equipment, Aircrew and Maintainer grounds school, Flying Training Delivery, and close liaison with off-site training centres located at the UK MOD site at Yeovilton. The Training Programme Manager will act as the primary interface and single point of contract, and across all Leonardo internal functions.

Please note that the JFF Level on this role is; JFF Level 7 (Business Support)

What you'll be doing as the MOD Training Programme Manager;

  • Overseeing the delivery of all training aspects of the MOD Programmes to a high standard, on schedule, and to budget

  • Maintaining and monitoring the nominated programme budgets and taking the necessary actions to ensure the profitability of all aspects under your control

  • Regularly reviewing and reporting, with the Training team and Project Team, on the status of the nominated contract, highlighting key points that could impact the contract to the Head of Training Operations (UK)

  • Effectively identify and manage programmes risks, ensuring effective and appropriate mitigation actions are identified and applied

  • Provide the Training team with senior management support as required on projects and providing a point of contact to the customer for issues that need to be resolved to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Maintain a close working relationship with the different training function managers to ensure technical activities are delivered in line with the projects contractual obligations

  • Use timely communication, regular reviews, performance feedback, and the setting of appropriate work objectives, targets and measurements to confirm and incorporate the business' direction, intent and goals within your functions day to day activities

  • Ensure the team is working collaboratively with all stakeholder teams to achieve targets

  • Manage the activity to ensure all processes are standardised, documented and updated, and are adhered to

  • Be responsible for the monthly programme CPR (Contract Performance Report) submission ensuring submissions are accurate, in accordance with contract, and that any variances and risks are identified and explained

  • Analyse monthly KPI results to identify areas of risk to achievement of targets and review mitigation plans

    Educated to degree level or an equivalent level of experience within an Aerospace or Training Programme Management or Training environment

  • Previous experience working either for the MOD, or for a MOD supplier

  • Experience of managing commercial arrangements where service delivery and financial responsibility are key elements


  • Excellent leadership skills

  • Fantastic communication skills and the ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with both internal and customer stakeholders, You must be eligible for full security clearance.
