Full Job Description

  • You will be responsible for the repair, maintenance and installation of mechanical plant and water treatment related equipment including various types of pumps, motors, gas dosing equipment and chemical analysers to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of our production works and associated sites.

  • You will be required to take part in a standby roster providing out of hours support to the operational area.

  • Assisting other members of the Production team with Confined Space Entries. BA training will be provided.

  • Supervise work of Contractors and external service providers including PSSR and LOLER inspections.

  • Accurate and timely completion of all necessary administration associated with reactive and planned maintenance work including updates onto our business and work management systems.

  • Work in line with company policies, procedures and safe systems of work.

  • Routine administration (e.g. timesheets, health and safety forms, vehicle record sheets etc.)

  • Monitor and maintain security of production site

  • Site manual updates and maintenance

  • Issue Permits to Work where required

  • Contribute and assist with engineering capital works as and when required

  • Driving Company vehicles which may also include the towing of plant and equipment

  • Ensure sites are in a clean and tidy condition upon completion of works, It is necessary for you to have the legal right to work in the UK when you begin employment with South East Water.

    Physically fit for working in confined spaces

  • Hold a clean driver's licence

  • Water industry qualifications it's advantageous but not essential

  • You're qualified to City and Guilds, HNC or hold a relevant technical qualification

  • Previous experience fault finding and problem solving plant and equipment

  • Highly organised individual with the ability to work under your own direction

  • Confident using IT and computers to be able to update records and reports

  • Paid volunteer time, You'll join in this crucial role to keep the assets at our pumping stations, reservoirs or production sites maintained so we can keep the water flowing for customers. Fewer things are more important to our communities than having reliably clean running water. It's your initiative that will help us to find the best solutions.

  • As someone who works under their own direction, you'll be trusted to use your knowledge and experience to find solutions that meet the highest standards in terms of quality, safety and cost. You'll attend to water production sites to complete repairs, respond to breakdowns, supervise the work of contractors and restore faults. You'll maintain and install a range of plant and water treatment equipment, including pumps, motors, chemical analysers and gas dosing equipment.
    Your earnings would be made up of a base salary between £33,795 - £41,980 and an allowance for working on a standby with the potential overtime. We provide a company vehicle for work. You'll generally work 37 hours per week between the hours of 7.30am to 15.30 Monday to Friday. Following your training, you'll work a 1in6 standby rota to respond to incidents outside of normal hours and at weekends. In return, you'll receive additional standby allowance payment (~£2,000 per annum).
