Full Job Description

Manages vetting and clearance for all 3rd party vessels. Leads inspection of vessels and terminals. Assesses and determines suitability of vessels, vessel operating companies and terminals for the intended marine transaction and work scope. Provides marine risk assurance subject matter expertise to improve safety and reliability of marine operations.

Leads major functional projects with work reviewed only for achievement of results. Work often impacts multiple BUs, Region or Asset Class. Extensive knowledge of the work function. Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Marine Assurance Superintendent through June 7th, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. (GMT). This position is part of the Marine Assurance team whose mission is to manage marine risk associated with 3rd party tankers, inland & offshore vessels, marine terminals, and their associated operators. The purpose is to add value to our customers' business through safe, reliable, & efficient marine transportation solutions.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide marine risk expertise across a range of vessel / terminal types and associated operators

  • Conduct vessel / terminal /operator engagements, inspections, and audits

  • Act as a primary point of contact for incidents with subsequent review of Incident Investigations reports and take appropriate follow up actions

  • Manage relationships with commercial, regulatory, 3rd party and internal customers.

  • Monitor performance of assigned term vessels including building relationships with vessel senior officers, reviewing port state and SIRE inspections, reviewing any terminal feedback etc.

  • Provide feedback and suggestion for MA Process and tool improvements.

  • Lead marine initiatives and marine risk projects involving multiple stakeholders at direction of Company.

  • Participate in emergency response and training exercises if needed.

  • Participate in industry advocacy roles, publication working groups as appointed

  • Ability to effectively work with Superintendents / vetting specialists globally

  • Be a safety conscious leader with strong commitment to operational excellence and Chevron's We Lead principles

  • Be able to achieve fluency in the use Chevron proprietary system Port and Vessel information system (PAVIS) with the expectation to jump in the queue when needed

    Held Senior Merchant Navy Deck Officer or Engineering certificate of competency.

  • Experience in Marine operations and/or Marine terminal operations.

  • Knowledge of marine industry guidelines and design and operating standards applicable to marine transportation (Tankers & Non-Tankers) including terminal operations, i.e., OCIMF, IMO, ISGOTT
