Full Job Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the Electrical engineer carries out planned and reactive maintenance of all site and plant equipment to ensure the required levels of malt production are achieved, work to be in accordance with GMP, all trade related legislation and best practice. Working Monday-Friday, the position provides call out cover for out of hours breakdowns 1 week in 4. Overtime is paid for attending callouts.,

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.

  • Contribute to efficiency improvements around all areas of the site

  • Contribute to continuous improvement on site by maintaining a vigilant approach to your work, identifying, and reporting any areas of improvement to site management

  • Complete maintenance paperwork/computer entry in line with company procedures.

  • Recommend improvements to the operation of equipment, where appropriate.

  • Contribute to the installation and commissioning of new equipment and plant, where appropriate.

  • Maintain workflow via use of CMMS


  • Ensure full compliance with:
  • All relevant electrical and mechanical engineering regulations

  • ATEX Regulations

  • Health & Safety at Work Act

  • Company Policies and Procedures

  • Food Safety Regulations

  • Environmental Procedures

  • Continued personal development by keeping up to date with new techniques, processes, and equipment, undertaking training courses and in house training, as required

  • Maintain high levels of engineering hygiene and housekeeping

  • Carry out other duties from time to time that may be reasonably requested

    Essential

  • Apprenticeship Mechanical Engineering qualification, BTEC, HNC or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in using a computer based maintenance system.

  • Full UK driving license


  • Skills/Abilities:
  • Demonstrable ability in Mechanical Testing, fault finding, installation & inspection

  • Demonstratable problem solving abilities and Quality awareness

  • Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative

  • Quality awareness

  • Ability to work well within a team.


  • · Desirable:
  • Experience working within Maltings

  • Material Handling Systems, Bucket Elevators, Belt Conveyors, Screws, Diverters etc.

  • Familiar with PLC systems

  • Knowledge of Motors, Inverter Drives, Soft Start systems, Motors, Inverter Drives, Soft Start systems

  • Mechanical knowledge/experience, Electrical engineering: 2 years (preferred)
