Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly team. Based at Winchester Royal Hotel, Winchester and working as an integral part of the Maintenance department.

This position involves day to day maintenance work and emergency repairs which could affect our Guest's experience. Liaising fully with all departments with regards to maintenance issues throughout the Hotel, liaising with external contractors as and when necessary and adhering to all Health and Safety procedures and policies.

We are looking for a confident communicator with a passion for guest service and a 'hands on' approach. Candidates must be self-motivated, flexible, organised, a good team player and be able to use their initiative. A general maintenance background is desirable.

  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills


  • Proven practical skills in areas such as carpentry, decorating and plumbing


  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively


  • Knowledge of how common electrical and mechanical items work and how to repair them


  • Customer service skills


  • The ability to work as part of a team


  • Knowledge of hand and power tools and other maintenance and safety equipment


  • Cleaning expertise, GCSE or equivalent (preferred), Hotel: 2 years (preferred)
