Full Job Description

Due to a career break, we have a fixed year long Consultant in Anaesthesia Post available, including on call activity. Sessions during the day will be delivered in theatre. The consultant on call is responsible for juniors who are resident for theatres, obstetric and ITU cover .

Hereford currently has an exciting building expansion programme including work to our daycase facility, which should increase our establishment needs in the longer term. This may mean there is an opportunity to extend beyond the end of the initial period.

There is the possibility to negotiate reduced or additional DCC / SPA sessions for those with either additional commitments or talents.

Locum Consultant in Anaesthesia - Main Duties

The appointee will be expected to provide a first class anaesthetic service for elective and emergency cases in all surgical specialties.

Clinical anaesthetic duties will be undertaken mainly in the theatre suite but may also include obstetrics, ECT, cardioversion or thoracoscopy which are outside the main suite.

The appointee will take part in regular Departmental, Academic and Audit meetings.

The post-holder would be expected to participate in Continuing Medical Education to the level required by the Royal College of Anaesthetists .

The post holder is expected to be familiar with and adhere to the Trust's policies on Clinical Governance, Confidentiality and Infection Control.
