Full Job Description

To ensure the relevant line in the laboratory operates to the defined quality, technical, productivity, health, safety and environmental and hygiene standards at all times

This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday 14:00 - 22:00.

  • Ensure all team members on the line are performing duties/tests to the specified quality and technical standards

  • Ensure hygiene levels are maintained and improved

  • Ensure line starts promptly at the start of shift and ensure workplace organisation levels are maintained

  • Ensure line is stocked appropriately so that productivity through the shift is maintained

  • Communicate any operational issues immediately and directly to line manager and ensure that any equipment faults or failures are highlighted immediately

  • Ensure end of shift duties are carried out

  • Maintain accurate line records for operational, technical, health & safety and line manning requirements

  • Ensure that daily targets are achieved through the productivity of your line

  • Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.

  • Assist in driving the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.

  • Assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard and other client specific requirements

  • Read and comply with company rules, procedures, agreements and any notices displayed by the Company

  • Any other reasonable tasks as delegated by the line manager

  • Act as a deputy to the Team Leader in respective areas

    Degree or equivalent in science

  • Understanding of ISO 17025, UKAS, key customer requirements, audit procedures, methods etc

  • Experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory

  • Good organisational and technical problem-solving skills

  • Ability to motivate a team at times of fluctuating workloads

  • Willing to take on responsibility

  • Strong people management skills

  • Strong management skills of for performance/absence management

  • Full commitment to meeting customers expectation
