Learning Support Assistant

Salary: £12 per hour

Hours of Work: Part Time, 3 hours per day, mornings

Contract term: Fixed Term, to July 2025

Start date: June 2024

We are currently looking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our support staff team and work on a 1-2-1 basis with one of our current Year 5 pupils. This is a great opportunity for a caring, passionate individual to join our school. With our school thriving this role will be to support one of our pupils as they progress in the school.

The main duties will be supporting a pupil in KS2 who has a diagnoses of ASD with their academic progress. The pupil does not require assistance in behaviour management. The main responsibility will be to assist the pupil in lessons, supporting to sustain focus and participate in class activities as well as provide additional academic support on an individual basis for short periods if necessary. Our Learning Assistants and Teaching Assistants are fully supported by our Head of Learning Support.

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who will be able to join our excellent team of staff. We would like to hear from you if you;

  • Have experience of working with children with a range of learning styles.

  • Have experience of working with pupils with ASD.

  • Are familiar with the use of strategies to support ASD learners in the classroom.

  • Have GCSE or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English.

  • Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of children.

  • Have an interest in how children learn and behave.

  • Can be a role model for students both in the classroom and around school

  • Genuinely care about children, particularly those who may face challenges in their learning.

  • Training in aspects of SEND, i.e. ADHD, Dyslexia, Autism or experience of supporting pupils with those needs is desirable.


  • Having previous school experience is desirable for this position and the role requires someone who is flexible, observant and patient but most importantly someone who is caring and child centered.
