Full Job Description

Responsible for the delivery of a deployable rear spoiler control systems to vehicle programs, the Lead Control Engineer role will co-ordinate all activities required to deliver, calibrate, maintain, test and sign off control systems, control functions and software. The role will require interfacing with, and ensuring alignment between, many stakeholders including Vehicle Program Teams, Attribute Teams, System Owners and Software Delivery Teams.

The Lead Control Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring that control system documentation is maintained in accordance with internal quality and Systems Engineering processes.,

  • Leading a small team of control and software engineers in the delivery and re-application of chassis control systems to vehicle program gateway timing and reporting the project status to stakeholders.

  • Working with stakeholders to ensure that the control systems meet the attribute and feature needs of vehicle programs.

  • Specifying and co-ordinating the delivery modifications to control functions to meet program requirements, improve system performance, improve quality, and to align with changes being made to interfacing systems.

  • Leading the definition of detailed functional, diagnostic and software requirement specifications and ensuring traceability to higher level system requirements.

  • Working with software teams to plan and execute the industrialisation of control functions as software code.

  • Planning and co-ordinating validation and verification testing at System, Control Function, and Software Component levels.

  • Liaise with System and Attribute Owners to ensure control system calibrations meet the needs of all parties and are delivered in accordance with the software build schedule.

  • Working with ECU teams to ensure that host platforms support the functional and timing requirements of chassis control applications.

    Experience of model-based control function development.

  • Prior experience of leading small teams in model-based software delivery for safety critical systems in accordance with a quality management process.

  • A strong understanding of control systems and their influence on vehicle attribute behaviour.

  • Knowledge of vehicle networks, ECUs, fault monitoring strategies, diagnostic routines and electronics.

  • Experience with following software applications; Vector CANape & Canalyzer, MatLab Simulink.
