Laboratory Technician

Post: Laboratory Technician - Four hours per week, 2 hours to be worked on a Monday or Tuesday (morning or afternoon) plus 2 hours on either a Thursday or Friday (morning or afternoon). Term time only., We would expect the Laboratory Technician to:

• Prepare materials and equipment for science lessons


• Maintain science laboratories and preparation rooms and their equipment, and services in good order


• Provide technical support to the Science Department, including: assisting in practical classes, carrying out demonstrations, preparing resources, assembling apparatus


• Prepare standard solutions, etc., purifying chemicals, treating waste


• Return apparatus, etc. and chemicals to storage as soon as practicable


• Carry out general duties in support of the teachers in the Science Department


• Work as part of the staff team to create a safe, secure and caring environment for pupils


Experience of working in a school would be desirable, but not essential.

We are looking for a Laboratory Technician who will be able to work with our existing Science Teaching staff. The successful candidate should be a committed Christian, who has excellent multi-tasking skills, communication skills, and a can-do attitude.
