Full Job Description

Are you a high-energy, smiley, multi-tasking iconic person with a passion for learning the ropes in the kitchen from a Professional Chef who has been delivering excellence for over 8 years within the childcare sector? Sorsha is our Chef, and she is looking for an assistant who is ready to learn and implement excellence!

Sorsha has designed her own kitchen space and adjoining children's kitchen/classroom, her own healthy menu and she has big plans for the future. Do you want to be a part of that?

We've been riding a wave of unprecedented growth and we're on the hunt for someone who can bring sunshine into every room they enter. As the driving force behind the kitchen you'll be a key player in our harmonious nursery. We work hard, but guess what - we play hard too! You will be surrounded by like-minded problem solvers and positive people who are there to cheer you on and help you develop as your role progresses.

  • What is needed to succeed in this role?

  • Food Safety: Knowledge of all food handling practices that meet hygiene and safety regulations.

  • Allergies and Dietary Requirements: Knowledge and understanding of various allergies and dietary needs.

  • Passion for Food: A genuine love for food and a desire to learn and grow.

  • Working with Children: You must enjoy interacting and engaging with children.

  • Communication and Initiative: Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and under pressure.

  • Safety Compliance: Assist the chef in adhering to safety requirements set by environmental health, including temperature checks, cleaning, and maintaining a tidy workspace.

  • Kitchen Management: Ability to run the kitchen in the absence of the chef, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining quality standards. You have big shoes to fill when Sorsha is not around!

  • Relationship Builder

  • You will be the bridge from the kitchen to our classrooms. Smile! Because there's lots of little ones who may want to become a Chef like you when they are older!

  • Social Media Sensation

  • We want to show off our beautiful kitchen, space and recipes. Parents of our little ones will be invited to events at the nursery - could you be a good host for our events?

  • Flexible 20-25 hours a week.

  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.

  • Understanding of allergies and dietary requirements.

  • Passion for food and promoting healthy eating.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
