Full Job Description

Layered RealityTM is seeking an energetic and passionate postgraduate designer to join and support our talented marketing team.

This role will be a key player in the team, creating assets to support all marketing activities across digital, print, PR, and social media. Your end goal as part of the wider marketing team will be to persuade customers to buy tickets and create amazing memories.

Working closely with the Marketing Intern, you will be the guardian of our brands, ensuring all artwork is in line with our brand guidelines. This naturally means the role will hold the keys to the asset kingdom, advising on the look & feel of customer-facing designs as well as ensuring all staff and back of house communications including branding are aligned, actively developing these with the needs of campaigns. Part of this role will also be highly organised, following sensible naming conventions and helping the team find the assets they're looking for.

We are looking for a talented designer, who can take the brand guidelines and run with it. The ideal candidate would be interested in live experiences, be playful in their approach, and can adapt to a fast-paced environment.,

  • Supporting the marketing team to create assets for the entire media mix including HTML 5 Assets, Social Assets, Digital Adverts, Print, Media, PR Assets, and some short-form video content

  • Working with the Social Media Assistant to create time-sensitive content for Social Media including stories.

  • Responsibility for the multiple brands' look and feel

  • Where appropriate, working with external agencies and other third parties for asset development or resizing.

  • Confidence to develop original designs for our brands, building on brand guidelines and key artwork to expand the brand look.

  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in development of proposal decks and other internal documents, including designing of templates for Powerpoint / Google Slide Presentations.

  • Working with selected partners (i.e. ticketing agents) to design & resize assets for their campaigns.

  • Keeping up to date with design trends and educating the wider team on new tools & opportunities.

  • Understanding the industry 'norm', and being able to report on new design approaches (competitor research).

  • Leading on asset management systems for the team.

  • Responsibility for team asset management systems and storage of marketing documents.

    Design qualification

  • Proficient across Adobe Applications Suite including inDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro or equivalent.

  • Proactive - ability to identify gaps and confidence to present solutions

  • Strong organisation skills are essential to be able thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of immersive experiences or entertainment sector (desirable)

  • Good communication skills - both written and verbal

    Layered RealityTM was founded in 2017 by Andrew McGuinness. It started with the idea of using the latest digital, theatrical, and physical techniques to transport experience seekers into another world.


  • The first experience, SOMNAI, launched in London in March 2018 to widespread praise for its innovation. It is now featured in Digital Catapult's Immersive Hall of Fame.

    Since then, Layered RealityTM has won multiple awards. Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds: The Immersive Experience received the prestigious 2020 THEA Award for Innovation, described by the Evening Standard as 'the Oscars of the industry', as well as the award for Best Innovation at the British Youth Travel Awards in 2019.

    Gunpowder Plot is the latest experience from Layered Reality, in partnership with Historic Royal Palaces. In 2021 it was the recipient of the Epic Megagrant by Fortnite developers, Epic Games. It has also been named one of the 'absolute best things to do around the world in 2022' by Time Out.

    Layered RealityTM is the unique method we use to build our experiences using three 'layers' of multimedia.

    Combining the latest digital technology (Virtual Reality, projection mapping and volumetric holograms) together with live theatre (live actors, movie-scale sets, and special effects) plus real physical sensations (touch, temperature, smell, sound and music, physical movement and taste) to create a unique immersive experience that is truly memorable., Layered Reality was founded in 2017 by Andrew McGuinness. It started with the idea of using the latest digital, theatrical and physical techniques to transport experience seekers into another world. We currently have two immersive experiences live in London:

    - Jeff Wayne's The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience on London's Leadenhall Street

    - Gunpowder Plot: A Tower of London Immersive Experience at the Tower of London's Tower Vaults - Layered Reality have a ten year agreement in place with Historic Royal Palaces and operate an experience at the UNESCO listed Tower of London Site.

    We have two further immersive experiences due to launch in 2024 one of which is Elvis Evolution, where we will celebrate Elvis's life and legacy through the power of multi-sensory technology.
