Full Job Description

LSW are currently looking for an enthusiastic team player with a background in import customs clearance with some exposure to domestic and international freight. In this role you will play a key role in the movement of goods predominantly into the UK but also exports out of the UK via road and sea. You will ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with the requirements of the union customs code whilst maintaining on time and cost effective delivery.,

  • Compile data from multiple suppliers for import customs clearance

  • Scrutinise customs invoices for accuracy

  • Liaise with suppliers for documentation amendments

  • Be point of contact for hauliers and agents for customs clearance

  • Classify items within the UK global tariff code in accordance with the rules of interpretation

  • Come to appropriate customs valuation based on the methods of valuation

  • Apply preference to import customs entries as required

  • Arrange shipments to and from third party contractors

  • Arrange export shipping documentation such as customs invoice, packing list, certificate of origin

  • Prepare dangerous goods notes

  • Book export shipments via online portals

  • Maintaining master data

  • Compiling data for monthly metrics

    Experience of CDS/Chief for imports

  • Import customs processing

  • Knowledge of classification rules of interpretation

  • Proficient in Microsoft office


  • Experience required:
  • Knowledge of methods of valuation

  • Knowledge of rules or origin, Preferential and non-preferential

  • Knowledge of INCOTERMS

  • Experience of transport portals

  • Knowledge of UK road haulage

  • Awareness of Dangerous goods regulations

  • Familiarity in movement of items related to the mechanical engineering industr

  • Familiarity in oversized shipment requirements

  • Familiarity with ERP systems

  • Familiarity with international trade
