We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic individual who wants to join our passionate team in supporting vulnerable adults in Birmingham. Although experience as a Housing Support Officer is preferable, we are primarily interested in people with a positive outlook on life and a proactive, can-do attitude!, Box Fresh Living Limited is an energetic and passionate company that provides high-quality support services to vulnerable adults across Birmingham.

The support we provide is primarily around helping people get their lives in order and find the support they need. The support is in-person but it does not require any physical assistance in the form of washing, bathing, assisting with medication, etc.

Our Residents come from a variety of backgrounds including Mental Health, Homeless, Addiction, Ex-Offender, and Ex-Services backgrounds. They often have unstructured and difficult lives. It is our mission to build trust and deliver support to enable our Residents to enhance their skills and progress on their journey toward independent living.

The purpose of the role is to provide focused support to our Residents to resettle them back into the Community; leading to fulfilled lives, improved life choices, a reduction in offending, and safer communities.

Housing Support Officers liaise directly with residents on a regular basis to support them in their journey towards independent living. They are also responsible for matching referrals to households where they will fit well with existing residents, and ensuring properties are maintained in good condition., Our primary purpose is to provide an excellent support service to our Residents. As such you will be expected:

  • (Don't worry if you haven't done any of this before. We provide excellent training!)

  • To make initial contact with referrals who are sent our way

  • To conduct risk assessments and create individual support plans for residents

  • To conduct weekly sessions support sessions with Residents and create a written record of the session

  • To maintain and document regular contact with Residents

  • To signpost Residents to support services as required

  • To form a professional yet personal relationship with Residents to emotionally and socially support them

  • To assist Residents to enhance their life, employability and social skills

  • To collect service charges from tenants on a routine basis


  • PROPERTY MANAGEMENT

    We provide excellent accommodation for our Residents. As such you will be expected:
  • To visit the properties at least twice a week to meet with residents and to carry out inspections on the property condition;

  • Through liaising with our maintenance team, to ensure properties are maintained to our high standards;

  • To work with Residents to ensure property interiors and gardens are kept clean and tidy;

  • To ensure the properties are safe and secure for the Residents;

  • To ensure health and safety policies are implemented and monitored;

  • To feedback on Residents who have moved on from the properties and to ensure rooms are clean and prepared for new Residents;

  • To routinely collect meter readings;

  • To liaise with neighbours as required.


  • ADMINISTRATION

    An essential part of the role is ensuring we are accountable for the support we deliver to our Residents and for the maintenance of the properties. As such you will be expected:
  • To explain and complete sign-up packs and service charge agreements with Residents;

  • To maintain daily logs, support session notes, support plans, and risk assessments for Residents;

  • To complete property safety logs;

  • To file and organise Resident paperwork.

    The role will appeal to a well-organised individual, with excellent people skills, a desire to contribute to the community, a Full UK Driving Licence, good written and oral communication skills, and a good grasp of Microsoft Word and Excel.


  • Residents are vulnerable adults, homeless (housed by us), people with substance misuse, alcohol misuse, or mental health. Every day is different and requires a combination of patience and empathy. However, results are very satisfying and watching residents transform is very rewarding.

    The role requires a diverse set of skills and competencies as follows,
  • Good verbal and written English;

  • Effective communication skills;

  • Great organisation;

  • Strong time-management and planning skills;

  • Experience in delivering support to vulnerable adults is ideal but not essential., Successful candidates must have the following:

  • Full UK Drivers Licence;

  • Own vehicle;

  • Able to work 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday;

  • Clean DBS Certificate (or be willing to apply for one at our cost)

    We are flexible on contract times from 12 - 35 hours per week and we pay very competitive rates within the industry :). Any role would start with a probationary period so we can see if we're a good fit for each other. But we really hope you will be an excellent fit with the team and will stay with us permanently!, Salary: £20,800 - £21,500 per annum pro-rated and depending on experience
