Full Job Description

To take the lead on delivering our geospatial and charting deliverables and focus on enhancing our GIS and data resources to enhance the offerings of Venterra. Onus will be on the Geospatial Team Lead to ensure all our datasets are robust, auditable and of exceptional quality, adhering to Venterra's standards and observing and adapting our approach as required by client contract and industry guidance.,

  • Collaborating with a range of internal and external stakeholders to formulate and execute project specifications within designated deadlines.

  • Overseeing the timetable and progression of ongoing projects to ensure client satisfaction exceeds expectations.

  • Ensuring the quality and uniformity of data representation across all documentation, mindful of audit and compliance obligations.

  • Generating graphical representations for both internal and external use.

  • Administering databases and storage systems in accordance with our quality standards, integrated management systems, and recognised best practices.

  • Pioneering the research and development of digital solutions to enhance operational efficiency, teamwork, or to address identified industry needs in client projects and research initiatives.

  • Serving as the primary liaison and cultivating a reputation as a subject matter expert within these domains.

  • Advocating for standardisation and overseeing compliance with organisational procedures and legal guidelines to aid in audit processes and industry certifications.

  • Providing mentorship to junior colleagues' organisation-wide, prioritising professional growth and future leadership within the team.

  • Exhibiting a strong capacity for problem-solving and managing disputes effectively.

  • Directing team efforts with clarity, delegating responsibilities to leverage individual strengths.

  • Proficient in navigating challenges and fostering a harmonious team atmosphere.

  • Strategizing, goal-setting, and mitigating project risks with proficiency.

  • Leading the creation of intricate reports and steering teams towards delivering thorough documentation.

  • Actively managing project boundaries to prevent scope expansion and gaining in-depth understanding of contractual obligations.

  • Working with the finance department on billing matters and adept at preparing fee proposals and project schematics.

  • Leading on R&D and innovation.

    Proficiency in GIS software applications and programming is required, ideally in-depth knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a working knowledge of industry practices.

  • Well-developed skills within scripting, programming, modelling, and designing.

  • Ability to design and maintain GIS databases and other database formats.

  • Proficiency in cartography and map design, including coordinating systems, projections, and map scales.

  • Ability to utilise, convert and incorporate various types of data into GIS. Examples of this data include Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and database files.


  • Education/Qualifications:
  • University Degree in Geoscience Field, Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science, or related area.

  • GIS Experience.

    As Venterra continues to expand, we are on the lookout for a Head of Geospatial and Data Services to enhance our team. The selected candidate will be employed through Ordtek and will work from our Hethel, Norwich office.
