Graduate Design Engineer (Civil, Structural or Mechanical)

Purpose: To learn, assist and support Design Engineers with the delivery of civil design schemes within the overhead line industry. To become part of the engineering team, and focus on utilising new skills to deliver CAD and first principal designs to senior designers for construction on site.

Role Delivery

• Assist in the delivery of detailed technical documentation to industry standards for the benefit of the customer.


• To support and undertake first principal design calculations.


• To learn to use PLS-CADD and PLS-TOWER to model structures and develop new overhead line routes and modifications.


• Support with the design of foundations through Eurocodes.


• Be responsible for your own development through shadowing and re-creating overhead line design and construction solutions in line with CDM regulations.


• Apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems.


• Focus on developing industry knowledge terminology and design and construction principals.


• Use industry standard software, backed up with first principals engineering skills for review.


• Become knowledgeable and clear on the application of standards.


• Undertake site testing and analysis of field data


Communication

• Understand your own limits, but try to develop answers independently and with your colleagues.


• Communicate constantly and Effectively


• Be aware of the wider projects, and communicate your progress effectively.


• Be clear on checking, and approval procedures to ensure that all work is safe and compliant.


• Understand project and engineering risks.


• Keep good records and be able to report accurately as and when required
