Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within GI unit, for a Senior Staff Nurse secondment position. The GI Unit is a 56 bedded department comprised of two wards, Page & Northumberland. The successful candidate will work alongside the nursing team, with the support of the Ward Sisters and senior leadership team in ensuring the highest standard of care is delivered to all our patients.
We aim to provide outstanding and specialised care to our Gastrointestinal Surgical patients, and we are looking for a motivated, friendly, hardworking, experienced senior nurse to join our highly skilled team., You will be offered time to complete administrative duties including, complex rostering, performance managing and supporting the team. Time will be allocated allowing you to supervise, support and complete PDRs and one to ones with your staff, competing clinical audits and feeding back to the team.
You will also be expected to be involved with the recruitment and selection process and full training will be offered. You will also be expected to look into incidents and learning that may arise from these.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills and will be able to demonstrate his/her abilities to inspire others., Independently manage a group of patients within the specialty whilst
working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualised and
personalised direct patient care
Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment,
planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. This includes
history taking, physical examination and the requesting of agreed
diagnostic procedures/clinical investigations.
Responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication
including transfusion of blood and blood products
Be responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the
speciality. To interpret information and take appropriate action and to lead
others to do the same.
Act as an advocate for patients within the department, to ensure a patient
orientated approach to the delivery of care and to meet standards within
the NHS Plan and other relevant guidelines.
Ensure that patients' receive high quality clinical care and a good patient
experience, having regard for their customs, religious beliefs and
doctrines.
Support and enable patients and carers to make informed decisions
relating to their treatment and management.
