Full Job Description

A passionate, dedicated and committed freelance teacher of the LAMDA Speech and Drama Acting Syllabus, is required from September, to deliver the programme at a fantastic school in Wimbledon, south west London. The children range from Year 7 to Year 11 (ages 11 to 16) This school has a history of excellent LAMDA Speech and Drama exam results.

You must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the LAMDA Acting syllabus, as interview questions will be based on the course content Grade 3 Acting up to Grade 8 Acting Exams. The children work on their Solo/ Duo Acting exams, in groups of 20 for Year 7-9 and groups of 15 for Years 10-11, during lunch time sessions. As this is a freelance position, candidates must also hold an updated Safeguarding Training certificate (valid within the last two years) their own Public Liability Insurance and an up-to-date First Aid Certificate. The candidate must be willing to attend two paid INSET training sessions per year.

Days and times:

The rate of pay is £35-40 per hour for the lunch time sessions depending on experience.

Key requirements for this role:

A degree in performance from an accredited drama school

Hold an enhanced DBS and be on the update service

Sound knowledge and delivery of the LAMDA Acting Syllabus

Strong classroom management skills and experience with teaching groups of up to 20 students

An excellent rapport with young children and an ability engage and inspire

A passion for your subject

A sound knowledge of performance skills

Excellent communication skills

An ability to meet deadlines is crucial

To be able to follow, and carry out instructions from the company director
