Full Job Description

As a Freedom of Information Officer your main responsibilities will be:
+ Triaging freedom of information requests received by the department to identify where further expert support may be needed to inform the department's response
+ Drafting responses to freedom of information requests
+ Commissioning requests to officials in the department to respond to
+ Providing complex casework advice to officials on the application of the Freedom of Information Act
Contributing to the project to improve the department's information rights service, writing guidance, templates and delivering training sessions to stakeholders across the department as needed

+ Excellent written and spoken communication skills
+ Aptitude for following complex processes
+ Ability to think critically and challenge existing ways of working, and lead process improvements in the team
Desirable skills and experiences:
+ Experience working in a central government department with senior officials and their private offices
+ Familiarity with the Freedom of Information Act
