Full Job Description

Based: The role will be primarily based in our Portsmouth office, located on the Lake Harbour Campus. Happy to discussed hybrid working for 1-2 days per week. Occasional travel to regional offices (Currently: Amsterdam, Cologne, London, Paris & Stockholm)

What you’ll do in your role

Reporting to the Director of Finance - Europe (UK based) you will play a key role in developing and driving our financial insight across our business with specific business partnering for our offices in Amsterdam & Paris. The role will collaborate with finance colleagues globally (c.40 FTE located in 24 countries) and with BTSers across the region (c.180) to ensure accounting and business processes are followed along with implementation of and adherence to global accounting policies.

You’ll be joining at an exciting but challenging time for our finance team. There’s a lot to do - a lot of opportunity to drive changes and improvements, to align ways of working across the region and to influence decision making across the business. This role will play a key role in that change.

Whilst there is a core component of the role that will utilise your technical accounting knowledge (this is a given that would be well suited to a candidate who possesses a solid understanding of working to IFRS standards and regular financial reporting), however the breadth of scope of this opportunity goes well beyond financial accounting and a candidate with genuine commercial acumen will have the opportunity to partner and influence the performance of the business

The role will provide a balance between reporting: collating regular management accounts, budgeting, forecasting mixed with financial modelling, analysis and commercial support. As such, we’re looking for a highly competent finance professional who is prepared to roll up their sleeves and really get into with the day-to-day as well as support the development and delivery of the overall finance strategy with the Director of Finance.

It is our culture at BTS that sets us apart. We’re a people focused business and the ability to build professional relationships, communicate effectively at all levels and explain complex financial concepts to non-financial managers is critical. The ability to work at pace and to stay comfortable in the ambiguous are important, but we like to try and have fun together as we work!

  • You will be a qualified accountant (From any of the major professional bodies, ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

  • Experience within an international environment, beneficial within the context of a group structure.

  • Working to tight deadlines – we’re a listed company!

  • Ability to build deep relationships both internally and with key external

  • stakeholders.
  • Global multi-currency experience - we’ve got lots of inter-company transfers to keep track of

  • Advanced excel skills – knowledge of Salesforce, and/or Xero would be preferable but not essential. What is more important is to have a desire to innovate and drive meaningful change.

  • The ability to exercise commercial judgement, being comfortable challenging and influencing.

  • Previous experience of managing a small team - Coaching and growing team members through regular feedback.

  • Able to work quickly and accurately, you’ll be resilient and able to work in an environment where change is a constant and priorities can shift and change.

  • Please note:
  • Fluency in English is a must, but business level fluency in Dutch or French would be a huge advantage.

  • We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role so you will also need to have the right to live and work in the UK already.
