Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Exercise Therapy Team, working at Hopewood Park, Sunderland. Hopewood Park is an assessment and treatment centre providing psychiatric intensive care. The role involves working into acute admission wards for patients over the age of 18 with a mental health illness who require assessment and treatment by a multi-disciplinary team.
The Exercise Therapy team prescribe exercise as an intervention for the physical and mental health needs of our service users. The role involves developing therapeutic relationships with our service users to promote the benefits of physical activity and supporting them to make positive lifestyle changes., The purpose of the role is to assist the exercise therapists to provide a range of exercise groups as part of a weekly timetable of activities. The exercise therapy assistant will work closely with the exercise therapist to support our service users to achieve their individual goals., Exercise Therapy work as part of a multi-disciplinary team therefore the post holder will be required to liaise with other professionals regarding exercise therapy treatment plans, physical health triggers, patient progress and discharge planning. They will attend ward meetings as required, to provide feedback.
