Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced professional to manage our busy events and activities programme - from strategy and planning through to logistics, marketing, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.

With line management responsibility for the Events and SBLO Co-ordinator you will develop, plan and deliver the events and activities programme for children and young people and for parent/carers. You will also have responsibility for organising conferences as required, including for professionals.

The role is within a small, dedicated team and will suit someone who is hands on, has great communication skills, is organised, proactive, has good attention to detail and can hit the ground running!

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Working with the Events and SBLO Co-ordinator, develop, plan and deliver the events and activities programme for children and young people and parent/ carers.


  • Strategic management of event and activity logistics including developing relationships with third party partners.


  • Liaise with the Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager to ensure events and activities are appropriately staffed.


  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the ongoing smooth running of all our events and activities.


  • Oversee event happenings and act quickly to resolve problems.


  • Work with marketing and communications to ensure our events and activities are well advertised to the right audiences via social media, email and other channels.


  • Work with the fundraising team to identify and support fundraising opportunities as appropriate.


  • Work with the marketing and fundraising teams to evaluate the impact of our events and activities programme.


  • Work with the wider SPACE team to deliver any conferences and events for parents, carers and professionals as required.


  • Promote excellent external relations by representing SPACE as required.


  • Other ad-hoc duties as required by the charity.

    Outstanding communication, multi-tasking, organisational, project management and negotiation skills.


  • Ability to problem-solve.


  • Flexibility and time management.


  • Strong administrative skills including Microsoft Office.


  • Proven track record of adopting new software packages.


  • Driving with own vehicle.


  • Desirable:
  • A good working knowledge of the SEND field and relevant services operating within Hertfordshire.


  • Good understanding of the charity and voluntary work sector, and its relationship with other sectors.


  • Understanding of the important role of volunteers.
