Full Job Description

The Natural History Museum has commenced an ambitious programme to transform and reimagine the Museum's public spaces so that we deliver excellent visitor experiences, bring to life our strategy, and cater for audiences now and into the future. The programme includes new and refreshed galleries, the application of our new brand on site, and the development of new signage and wayfinding for our sites at South Kensington and Tring.
We are looking for an experienced design coordinator with project delivery experience to support the delivery of the signage and wayfinding project.
The role will also contribute to the design of other projects in the Museum, working as part of a team of internal designers.
For the signage and Wayfinding project, the post will focus on providing design management, coordination and oversight for the Museum.
Please note that this role is based in our South Kensington site, and all candidates should be able to commit to working on site at least 3 to 4 days weekly.

  • 2d, 3d designer or architect with professional experience delivering high quality complex projects.

  • Having a high-quality portfolio containing projects relevant to the role.

  • Experience of working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary design teams delivering projects.

  • Having experience of project delivery and project processes such as RIBA Plan of Works, Listed Building Consents, CDM and construction contract processes, and knowledge of project delivery best practice or methodologies.

  • Designer and coordinator with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Critical thinker with the ability to challenge and get the most out of projects.

  • Creative problem solver with the skill to use design thinking to tackle competing objectives in intelligent and beautiful ways.

  • Experience working in heritage, museum or cultural sector or on exhibitions is an advantage.

We are a world-class visitor attraction and leading science research centre. We use the Museum's unique collections and our unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually and 16 million visits to our website.

  • Today the Museum is more relevant and influential than ever. By attracting people from a range of backgrounds to work for us, we can continue to look at the world with fresh eyes and find new ways of doing things.
We employ 900 staff in a variety of roles, all united by our vision of a future where people and planet thrive. We need everyone to have the passion and drive to help us with our mission to create advocates for our planet and inspire millions to care about the natural world.

Please also include examples of work which demonstrate your design and interests outside of your employment experience. This could include work developed while studying, freelance work, competitions done independently of your employment, or other self-initiated work.
Closing date: 9am on Monday 29th April 2024
    Interviews expected w/c 6th May 2024
    Salary: £37,230 per annum
