Jaxdene Partnership have an existing opportunity for experienced welder to join a growing and successful team. Our Clients based in Chatteris are developing a World Class manufacturing facility for high integrity Nuclear Waste Containers.

Work pattern:

The Client operate different work patterns to cover the business needs, however, normal working hours would be 46 hours per week on a fortnightly rotating day/night shift pattern as follows:

Day Shift: Monday to Thursday 10 hours per day 07.00-17.30 with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.

Friday 6 hours 07.00-13.00 with no lunch break

Night Shift: Monday to Thursday 12 hours per night 18.30-06.30 with 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.

Night shift would not start until satisfactory probation/training.

As a Fabricator/Welder you will work in a team of highly skilled and motivated associates in the early stages of production for high integrity Nuclear Waste Containers within a new word class facility.

  • To perform coded welding and operate robot welder on nuclear product

  • Able to read and Understand engineering drawings

  • Coded Welder, Mig/Mag, Tig experience in stainless steel, experience in 2205 duplex

  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve quality standards and meet production deadlines

  • Able to operate overhead cranes and workshop equipment

  • Should be passionate about quality and process improvement, hold a relevant indentured or modern apprenticeship with several years' experience in Mig/Mag, Tig processes

  • Experience of robotic welding would be beneficial, although not essential

  • Your main skill will be the assembly, fabrication and welding of Stainless steel parts and sub-assemblies.


  • Essential attributes (Experience, knowledge, skills, education):

    A strong interest in welding, fabrication and materials and hold an approved Level 3 Qualification (NVQ, VRQ, Technical Certificate, Diploma, Apprenticeship) in an engineering subject.

    Experience

    · Experience of arc welding processes, such as: TIG, PAW, MMA, MIG/MAG, FCAW, SAW.

    · Experience with manual, mechanised or robotic welding.

    · Project experience from concept to product realisation.

    Skills

    · Several years welding experience of running arc welding robots.

    · Proactive and dynamic approach in challenging existing processes

    · Good communication skills.

    Knowledge

    · Knowledge of best practice for welding of a variety of materials, such as: Stainless steels, Duplex SS, C-Mn steels, aluminum, and nickel-based alloys.

    · Knowledge of welding Standards. However, full training can be given to the successful applicant.

    · Robot programming.

    · Knowledge of welding systems and software.

    · Problem solving techniques.

    Knowledge of 5S, VMS and lean manufacturing,
  • MIG welding: 1 year (preferred)

  • Fabrication: 1 year (preferred)
