The Opportunity...

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) established in 2023, oversees the design (basic design) and the realisation (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects.

EPR-E is responsible for delivering the design for a number of NI buildings, systems and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project through an integrated team, support to HPC construction and commissioning activities, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. Therefore, a Technical Directorate is being created, responsible for the engineering disciplines and technical expertise required to deliver the different engineering projects through integrated teams in EPR-E.

As a JDO N3 area Civil Team Lead, you will be overseeing a talented group comprising of staff from a variety of partners. In this role, you'll organise the delivery of civil studies for N3 buildings, supported by engineering contractor teams. Your responsibilities include managing the team's performance and ensuring the timely update and modification of relevant deliverables, such as detailed designs and calculations, under EPR-E contracts.,

  • Leading the quality and production of modifications for N3 design packages, overseeing surveillance.

  • Monitoring the production of impacted deliverables and manage team workload, including weekend tasks.

  • Identifying training needs for the team and manage improvements in civil activities.

  • Interacting with the Responsible Designer's back-office regarding civil design interfaces.

  • Collaborating within the JDO (Joint Design Office) with the client and other disciplines to support the project.

  • Supporting the JDO Discipline Lead in production, training, quality, and recruitment needs.

  • Approving updates of deliverables previously issued by back-office teams.

  • Ensuring continuity and consistency of design modifications by JDO.

  • Ensuring compliance with methods, referential, tools, and processes delegated by back-office teams.

  • Producing necessary deliverables in quality and quantity to support the project.

  • Ensuring the JDO team produces the best solutions, balancing NNB and RD stakeholders' needs.

    Civil engineer with experience in design of buildings in the nuclear industry or with experience on subjects at the interface between design and construction.

  • Knowledge of N3 area buildings and Layout (Diesel buildings, Nuclear Ancillary buildings, waste treatment buildings, Nuclear Island access building, and other buildings surrounding the Nuclear Island).

  • Previous design experience in nuclear engineering centre is a real asset.

  • Knowledge of the ETC-C code and safety requirements are recommended in order to answer to the requests.

  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software.

  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.

  • Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies would be beneficial.
