The Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) Directorate is responsible for creating a cutting-edge technology and information environment that connects, empowers, and enhances our officers’ crime fighting capabilities.
We are responsible for defining and delivering our data and technology strategy, policy and architecture, building and sustaining resilient services which are critical to our mission success. We work closely with our operational teams to help them do their job in the most effective and efficient way, understanding their challenges and combining this with emerging technologies/techniques to obtain and exploit data in innovative ways to ensure we stay ahead of the criminals who are committing some of most serious crimes and inflicting harm to our society., This roles sits within the Data and Information Governance and Policy function, within the Chief Data Office (CDO) in Digital, Data & Technology (DDaT). The CDO are responsible for managing the NCA corporate record and information holdings, whilst ensuring the NCA can confidently identify, discharge and comply with its legal information management responsibilities.
This role will manage and lead a dedicated Archives and Public Record Act (PRA) compliance team. It will provide guidance and direction on information and records management best practice to ensure the Agency manages its information and data in compliance with legislation so that it can succeed in its mission and operational outcomes.

  • To be considered, you will need to successfully complete SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role., + Deliver Information and Records Management services supporting the NCA through their PRA submissions to The National Archives (TNA) and leading the NCA’s compliance with the Act.

  • + Lead and deliver Sensitivity reviews, and establish a process and common taxonomy and catalogue.
    + Lead the NCA’s identification and appraisal of NCA records with a team of dedicated records managers.
    + Lead the investigation and adoption of digital transfer tools to facilitate the move of records to TNA digitally.
    + Seek continuous service improvement for the performance of the information and records management function, conducting evaluations and making recommendations for improving processes and performance.
    + Support senior management in the delivery of an effective and efficient departmental service deputising where appropriate.
    + Through a continuous process of assessment, to be able to drive activity which will achieve necessary cultural change regarding information and records management within the NCA.
    + Draft briefings as necessary, identifying risks and recommending solutions.
    + Manage issues relating to the performance and conduct of officers in line with NCA values and manage/coach and develop staff.

    Interview Details
    You will then be asked to attend an interview in order to have a more in-depth discussion of your previous experience and professional competence.
    There will be one round for interview, and you will be assessed on the Behaviour and Technical criteria listed above.

Please be advised that the type of interview (eg. virtual/face-to-face) may be subject to change and successful candidates will be notified of this prior to attending.     Interview Outcome
    Candidates will be alerted of the outcome of their interview via their CS Jobs Portal. We will be retaining a candidate pool of successful applicants to draw from as vacancies arise for up to 12 months.

    Multi-Location

    Near Miss
    If you are not found appointable at the advertised grade you may be offered the lower grade role if you are considered to meet the skills, experience and behaviours for the lower level. The benchmark for appointing to the lower grade is set at the start of each campaign. All offers will be made in merit.
    If you are found appointable at the higher grade but there are no positions available you may be offered an appointment at the lower grade.
    Hybrid Working

    Additional Information
    + The NCA is a 24/7 organisation, and working patterns must support business requirements. Some roles may require you to respond at short notice or outside of core hours.
    + Individuals will be required to undertake and pass a substance misuse test as part of pre-employment checks.
    + Successful candidates may be required to undertake a medical. If required, the medical will take place in either London or Warrington. Unfortunately, travel costs will not be reimbursed.

    + In-depth knowledge and experience of managing information and records under the Public Records Act.
    + Good understanding of legislation affecting NCA activities and the management of records throughout the information life cycle.
    + Knowledge of industry best practice relating to the appraisal and transfer of records to The National Archives.
    + Ability to communicate complex, technical matters in suitable language to stakeholders who have differing levels of technical understanding.
