Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team to continue to build a service to support schools to fulfil a Statutory responsibility providing specialist independent careers advice and guidance to young people with SEND. The role is complex, and the post holder will require high level skills and knowledge both in the careers sector but also within SEND as the learners will range from having , SEMH to speech language and communication needs.

The post holder will be expected to build effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders in order to understand their needs and tailor services and advice accordingly. Initially this will be across PRUs/SEMH schools then broadening out to work with a variety of settings to include: mainstream, specialist INMP and specialist provisions beyond Somerset.

This role will contribute to young people with SEND being able to live their best adult lives possible

The post holder will deliver SPTS activity on behalf of and working with SPTS Lead and our CEIAG Lead to maintain and develop this provision working closely with a wide range of partner organisations, both locally and nationally.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

Support the research project Typically, the job will include all, or most of the following elements, under the instruction of the supported employment coordinator:

· Support schools to fulfil a Statutory responsibility providing specialist independent careers advice and guidance to young people with SEND

· Build effective relationships, in order to understand their needs and tailor services and advice accordingly;

· Support young people to make successful transitions into employment, education and learning by providing effective independent careers information, advice and guidance;

· To be alert to and recognise potential business opportunities for SPTS

· Identify new markets in which to work

· Where required contribute and facilitate the delivery of careers and enterprise activities/collapsed timetable events in schools and colleges, working with young people, school staff and local employers;

· Develop links with employers to engage their contact with schools and colleges;

· Make all SPTS's services accessible for all customers (included but not limited to); geography, educational ability and closeness to the labour market.

· Using systems to record our customers' journeys according to the individual funders' contract agreements;

· Responsible for action planning to achieve key objectives

· Maintain an awareness of and involvement with national initiatives

· Work closely with existing strategic partners and develop further relationships

· To take responsibility for delivery of operational targets; ensure contract compliance is maintained to a high standard and project manage contracts where required;

· To use performance management systems effectively in accordance with the requirements of contracts;

· Maintain up to date knowledge of local agencies and provision available, referring and facilitating customer's access to overcome progression barriers;

· To participate in training and development activities to improve knowledge and skills and maintain CPD around provision;

· Uphold and comply with Data Protection and confidentiality standards.

· Uphold safeguard and promote the organisations values

· Responsibility to act on any issues of concern in relation to Safeguarding Adults and Children.
