An exciting and innovative two-year fixed term opportunity has arisen in North West London. This pilot role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to draw upon their experience as a highly motivated Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with a passion for coaching, training, and developing Cancer CNSs to shape the delivery and future of the Macmillan Cancer CNS Development Lead (CDL) Role.

This new role is part of a pan-London pilot project which is funded by Macmillan and NHS England (Workforce, Training and Education). The focus of the pilot is on two key areas:o attracting qualified nurses into Cancer CNS roleso accelerating the development of new CNSs.

The post holder will lead the local implementation of this high-profile pilot. They will be responsible for the delivery of the CNS Development Lead Pilot Project within the Integrated Care System (ICS) and contribute to the strategic management and development of the project. By working closely with Trust Lead Cancer Nurses and fellow Macmillan CDL colleagues across London, the postholder will inspire and improve the development of the next generation of Cancer CNS workforce across the Capital. This is an autonomous senior role hosted by RM Partners, West London Cancer Alliance and The Royal Marsden Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, providing system level planning, cross-organisational working and leadership for the local Cancer CNS workforce within North West London., The aim of the role is to act as an expert practitioner, resource and role model to support the delivery of high quality, safe and effective cancer nursing for people with cancer, their families and carers. The post holder will be a change agent with a strong professional and clinical focus and will contribute to facilitating a conducive work environment. Thereby the Macmillan CDL will contribute improving cancer CNS retention and experience as well as staff development.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm, commitment and leadership skills that will support the development of aspirant and CNSs currently in post. They will have excellent clinical skills, recent experience, and a background knowledge of oncology nursing. The role will require someone that is able to provide informal coaching and mentorship to develop CNSs professional goals and build on basic and specialist skills.
