Full Job Description

  • Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Studying plants in substrate and soil

  • Developing planting, cultivation and harvesting techniques to help improve crop yield

  • Solving problems regarding plant's performance

  • Monitoring pest and diseases and planning IPM using beneficial species

  • Providing spray & feed recommendation for test plot

  • Developing and researching farming practice

  • Generating reports and keeping record regarding plants performance

  • Responsible for the correct functioning and maintenance of the entire irrigation system.

  • Responsible for the hydric needs of the plants at the test plot.

  • Preparation of fertilization solution.

  • Setting up feeding programs in the irrigation system application.

  • Maintenance of an inventory of pesticide and fertilizer products.

  • Provision of support during the installation of new irrigation systems.

  • Responsibility for EC, pH and % Drainage recordings and maintenance of the irrigation's tools and devices.

  • Giving support to the Test Plot Technical Grower to make better decisions about nutrient deficiencies correction.

  • Promoting selections through presentation and hosting visitors from growers, Plans & Aligns: Establishes priorities and desired outcomes, and creates plans to achieve them.

  • Drives Results: Pursues everything with energy, resourcefulness, and the need to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Collaborates: Works with a variety of colleagues, inside and/or outside of Driscoll's, seeking win-wins solutions.

    We are therefore searching for a professional, Assistant Technical Grower to help the test plot manager organise the test plot. For this role you will need to have the practical ability and the desire to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of farming operations at the test plot., Be a team player

  • Having an open-minded and flexible attitude, responding positively to different opinions and

  • changing priorities within the test plot

  • BSc in horticulture or a related subject would be advantageous

  • Have good organisational skills and be able to multi-task

  • Have a flexible attitude to work hours due to the seasonal nature of the crops, Valid driver license and the ability to be covered under company-sponsored vehicle insurance program.

  • A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions
