Full Job Description

As an Asset Lead Oncology Development, you will serve as the matrix team leader with overall accountability for the development of one or more assets from late preclinical through life cycle management. You will report to the Primary Focus Development Head.

Key Activities for this role

  • Provide strategic direction and executional oversight to asset team(s) translating Primary Focus level strategies into a comprehensive global development, registrational plan aligned with the corporate strategic plan.

  • Accountable for leading a cross-functional asset team(s) including a medical, regulatory, (CMC) Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls, research, operations, commercial, finance and data science to advance one or more assets from preclinical candidate nomination through clinical development, global/local regulatory submissions, and approval.

  • Develop clear, prospective Go/No-Go decision points and continually validates the viability of the program ensuring development plans maximize the value of the asset.

  • Actively manage issues and risks and proactively identifies alternative strategies in collaboration with Asset Team representatives.

  • Partner to develop a joint global strategy for co-development programs, representing Astellas' position and minimizing escalation amongst the partners.

    Extensive experience in a in drug development leadership in pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, or biotechnology

  • Evidenced success in leading the development of one or more asset.

  • Strong experience in leading global cross functional matrix teams.


  • Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or equivalent.


  • Educations/Qualifications
  • A doctoral or an advanced professional degree is preferable with a specialty in the assigned therapeutic area, or equivalent experience within industry.

  • This position follows our hybrid working model. The role requires a blend of home and minimum 2 days per week in our UK office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
