Artworker Children's Books

iSeek Ltd are a long-established creator and publisher of highly illustrated books for children aged 2-10 years - everything from activity books to pop-ups. We are passionate about producing outstanding books and related learning products to engage and entertain our readers around the world. We are looking for a skilled artworker able to turn their hand to a variety of tasks, from fixing illustrations and making hand-made mock-ups on the one hand, to producing print-ready files for books created by our team.

The person we're looking for MUST be an experienced artworker, be highly motivated, with strong technical skills and the ability to work on a wide variety of projects. We are looking for a resilient and resourceful individual, with excellent pre-press knowledge in a print environment, as well as practical skills in making things by hand. This is a new role in our creative team, which requires someone with a strong commercial sensibility and the ability to work under pressure.

The candidate will be able to prepare InDesign files and make print-ready PDFs, working collaboratively as part of a team. A strong understanding of book production processes and co-edition publishing would be an advantage.

This role reports to the Studio Manager and will work closely with the our production, editorial and design teams. We are looking for someone who is resourceful who can also demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.

We're a Mac-based company. Proficiency in all Creative Suite programmes: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is essential, as is the ability to work calmly on multiple jobs to sometimes difficult print deadlines.

Our work is diverse, from complex pop-ups to engaging activity books, with a vibrant programme of new titles and product development for each season, as well as on-going custom projects.

iSeek is a publisher and book packager with a strong work ethos and a long track record of creating books for the international co-edition market, direct to retail and also with a new UK trade list. This is a fabulous opportunity for the right person.

We are part of a growing international group with offices in London, San Francisco and LA. This post is based at iSeek's office near Brighton, very close to the A23 at Hickstead. There is a bus service from Brighton, but most of our staff drive to work.

Our ideal candidate will have:

- A solid understanding of offset litho book production processes, ideally with knowledge of specialist areas such as pop-ups and other 3D construction methods, stickers and other areas specific to children's books.

- Understanding and knowledge of co-edition file production.

- A degree or equivalent and design experience within children's illustrated publishing.

- Confidence to work at pace whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail.

- A great work ethic.

- A can-do attitude.

- The ability to follow schedules, and work to tight deadlines under pressure

- Be able to maintain excellent relationships with team members.

- Strong, clear, confident communication skills.,
