Full Job Description

  • Testing of high voltage power supplies to specification requirements.

  • Completion of test reports and documentation in accordance with customer requirements and in line with the Quality Management System standards.

  • Upgrading and modification of assemblies and finished product.

  • Interpretation and implementation of changes to assemblies and finished product in accordance with documentation.

  • Identifying product quality and performance issues and raising appropriate non-conformances.

  • Liaising with Design Engineering, Test Equipment Design and Sales in support of meeting customer requirements and finished product quality and performance.

  • Responsibility for adhering to the Company's ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems.

  • Test product by following test procedures accurately and meeting standard times.

  • Use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, digital power supplies and multi meters.

  • Understanding high voltage test methods.

  • Soldering and rework methods to IPC standards.

  • Working in a lean manufacturing facility.

  • Use of MS Office.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills., Diligent application to study the AME route on day release and within company time to achieve a successful outcome with qualification.

  • Diligent application of learning in the workplace to demonstrate the learning and knowledge gained.

  • Attending regular monitoring review meetings with appointed training officer.

  • Gathering a portfolio of on the job learning and work evidence to meet the needs of the apprenticeship programme and End-point Assessment.

  • Satisfactorily completing assignments and consolidating the training and work undertaken in the time frame agreed.

  • Manufacture (Assembly & Test) of production units.

  • Applying a conscientious attitude in the workplace, contributing to the departmental goals and objectives.

  • Ensure familiarisation and adherence to the Quality, Environmental and Health and Safety management systems including workmanship standards, static handling precautions and high voltage control measures.

  • Keep informed and support EMS and improvement team activities and IS09001 - Quality and ISO 14001- Environmental requirements including lean initiatives.

  • Work with other team members to continuously improve quality and processes.

  • Responsibility for adhering to the Company's ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems.

  • Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)


  • After a further period of skills and technical knowledge development all apprentices will be required to achieve the following qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)


  • The final apprenticeship completion certificate will be issued on achievement of the above qualification and successful completion of end point assessment.
