Full Job Description

  • Using ride on and pedestrian mower.

  • Using chemicals and spraying (once qualified).

  • Using Auto-Roller.

  • Carry out weekly checks of machinery and equipment.

  • Hedge cutting, strimming and sweeping.

  • Cutting lawns.

  • Tractor driving.

  • Planting and maintenance of all flower beds and shrubberies throughout the school campus.

  • Landscaping of gardens as required.

  • Clearing drains of leaves when necessary.

  • Comply with School and legal health and safety requirements, codes of practice and risk assessments.

  • Undertake training and demonstrate competence in the correct use and operation of all equipment and vehicles.

  • Wear protective clothing appropriate for the task.

  • Undertake training in the use of herbicides and fertilisers.

  • Lifting equipment and materials in accordance with safe working practice.

  • Machine maintenance.

  • Cleaning up snow/leaves and litter around the school grounds.

  • Engage with our teams in a friendly and informative manner, resolve requests, queries and concerns politely, respectfully and efficiently to create an exceptional customer experience

  • Any other duties as required by the Head Groundsman, in connection with the Grounds and Gardening Department.

    Wellington School is a co-educational independent boarding and day school for pupils aged 3-18 located in Wellington, Somerset. The senior school was founded in 1837 and the prep school opened in 1999. Boarders are accommodated in 5 houses all within the school site.
