Application Developer

Seize the opportunity to join our dynamic IT team at Spear & Jackson Group as an Applications Developer.

You will primarily be developing and support bespoke, intranet-based applications and reports for business functions not covered by our main ERP systems.

As a Group Applications Developer you will be responsible for coding, refactoring, creating documentation and supporting the roll out of bespoke applications to support the business.

No day will be the same, you will be involved in developing bespoke applications and reports using structures and efficient code, and actively support users to maximise the benefits from these bespoke applications. You will be confident in making recommendations to improve systems and improve business efficiency and help to develop training and user guides.

What about you? Ideally, you will have PHP and other web-based programming skills (e.g. JavaScript, HTML, and CSS), as well as knowledge and experience of Object-oriented Programming techniques and Laravel framework. As you work closely with users and business managers, your personal skills are important. An appreciation for IT security and solutions; a familiarity with unit testing and software quality control; and experience in designing application architecture are desirable.
