Full Job Description

Here at Active Stars, we are looking for a new member to join our team as an After School Club Assistant. Working directly with the children, you will assist with the day-to-day organisation of the club, deliver structured activities, and monitor and support free play sessions.

This role is ideal for individuals who have a passion for working with children, possess patience and a positive attitude, and exhibit a creative flair in organising activities that are both educational and fun.

Ensuring the safety of all children under their care is paramount, which involves not only constant supervision but also the ability to respond effectively to any emergencies or issues that may arise.,

  • Assist in setting up and tidying up the club space before and after sessions.

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of age-appropriate activities for children attending the after-school club.

  • Engage with children in a positive and supportive manner, fostering a fun and inclusive environment.

  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues regarding children's progress and any concerns.

  • Follow all health and safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe environment for children.

  • Support the Club Managers in any other tasks as required.

    Experience of working with children in a similar role is desirable but not essential.

  • Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and parents effectively.

  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the club.

  • Working Conditions

  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children of varying ages and abilities.

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions from the Club Manager.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) or willingness to undergo one.

  • First Aid certification or willingness to undergo training.
