Full Job Description

Northamptonshire's Children's Trust's Fostering Team (Post Approval) have vacancies for Supervising Social Worker positions., The role is responsible for providing practical and social work support for children and families. This will include undertaking assessments, visiting children and their families, carrying out interventions, reviewing the work undertaken, direct work with children and families and any other work identified as necessary. All this must be based on best evidence and good practice, privileging the best interests of children.
About you

  • You will be a registered social worker who can demonstrate experience and interest in meeting the needs of the children placed in foster care.

  • You will be able to work closely with other colleagues within the Fostering Service and our children's service to support positive results.

  • You will provide support and supervision to our foster carers and adhere to the National Minimum Standards and Fostering Regulations.

  • You will invest in the life of the team and develop working relationships respecting others' strengths, celebrating difference and seeking solutions.

    Whilst still being a part of the Children's Trust we are also a stand-alone Independent Fostering Agency so we are very special., Northamptonshire Children's Trust was established in November 2020 to deliver Children's Services to the newly established North and West Northants County Councils. The Trust is wholly owned and funded but operationally independent from the Councils; this provides the organisation with unique opportunities to explore new ways of working and to be more agile and adaptable in its approach to service delivery. We are developing a culture that allows the very highest quality of professional practice to flourish and evolve, delivering at the cutting edge of new innovation.

    Our Team provides support and supervision to our approved foster carers. We have amazing Public Health Funding currently helping to support our carers, children and to upskill ourselves in wonderful training opportunities.


  • We also run the Duty system working with the Placements Team whereby children are placed with foster carers.

    We have a number of specialist schemes including Family Link carers for our children with disabilities, Resilience carers for our young people stepping down from residential, Parent and Child carers for parent and babies as well as our other mainstream carers to support.

    We have a third of our carers who are kinship connected carers.
