Shop Assistant

Oakwood Carpets and Flooring are looking to employ a shop assistant to work within their shop on a part time basis. Your role will be customer focused, therefore, you must be helpful, approachable and organised. You will primarily assist customers in the process of purchasing new flooring. This will include providing information on products, accurate pricing and quotations, additionally ordering of materials and services for our customers. Further, within this role, you will need to effectively liaise with suppliers and installers, and ensure general shop processes run smoothly and efficiently.,

• Assisting customers to select the best products to match their requirements and providing quotations based upon measurements provided.


• Working as part of a team to ensure the day to day running of the business.


• Assisting in maintaining a clean and organized shop environment.


• Communicating with customers in a polite and efficient manner, face to face, by telephone, or by email.


• Communicating effectively also with suppliers, installers and colleagues.


• Processing of all orders through to satisfactory completion.


• Ensuring orders placed are received into the shop, systems that are in place are updated, and invoices are both accurate and paid for in full when work is completed.


• Covering additional days, when required and possible, to cover staff vacations or absence.


• Assisting the business with general daily shop operations, eg stock taking.
  
  Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience within retail. It would further be preferable, if this included experience of working within the flooring retail sector. Effective communication skills and a helpful approachable attitude are particularly essential in assisting our customers to select their new flooring, and in working with colleagues, installers and our suppliers. As you will also be required to work independently within the shop, you must also have great organizational skills and provide attention to detail in processing and / or assisting colleagues to process orders through to satisfactory completion. Candidates will be required to provide costs and quotations for our customers. However, training will be provided, as required, to ensure you are able to give to our customers formal quotations from plans provided, or to confidently provide face to face estimated costs for products / services available.
