Full Job Description

You will work with the world's best perfumery talent to grow Unilever's Perfumery expertise. The fragrances you touch will drive the performance of Unilever Brands worldwide. As part of this role, you will become a recognised leader in bringing the science of sustainability to the art of perfumery., As we continue to expand our perfumery team we are looking for a Senior Perfumer, who will be responsible for:

  • Partnering with Unilever Global Platform teams to deliver the next generation of Home, Beauty and Personal Care products - enabling fragrance to deliver superior performance, cost and sustainability.

  • Develop Creative Perfume capability - starting with Core strategic brands and variants.

  • Working with Unilever experts and external Fragrance Houses to optimize the performance, cost, sustainability, and compliance of Unilever's existing fragrance portfolio.

  • Work with Unilever's upstream Science & Technology teams to enable the delivery of their Biotech and Bio-sourcing strategies.

  • Establish an operational fragrance compounding lab at our facilities at Port Sunlight (UK).


  • Driving change within the company and our partnership with fragrance experts, procurement and product scientists, in order to maximise the speed at which renewable and biodegradable ingredients are integrated into category portfolios.

    We are looking for people with the right attitude, mindset and competencies, coupled with:
  • Educational background in a relevant Science and/or Engineering to at least BSc level.

  • Qualified as a perfumer through a recognised perfumery school or on-the job training.

  • Significant experience in functional product perfumery in a variety of chassis.

  • Experience of creating functional fragrance cross multiple markets and multiple categories

  • A proven track record of delivery as a Perfumer in consumer goods delivering technical performance. You will have hands on experience of creating and optimizing fragrances that turn out to be successful in the market.

  • Experience working with analytical/ measurement experts to optimize fragrance oils for cost and performance.

  • Knowledge of the sustainability and compliance challenges of fragrance raw materials.

  • A track record of being able to problems solve issues and develop solutions.

  • The ability to lead self and teams to achieve breakthrough results.

  • Ability to work with other perfumers (both internal and external to create an develop new fragrance

  • Ability to work with CTI and Procurement to develop cost and test methodologies that lead to winning fragrances.
