Full Job Description

What the world needs now… is a clean energy future that works for everyone. What we need now… are the people who can make it happen. Is it you?

As a Project Engineer, you will develop capital expenditure projects across the East of England to aid in the business objective of self-delivery. You will have targets to ensure the project is delivery on time, less than or equal to the expected costs and to the standard that National Gas prides itself on.

In this role you can expect to partner with the Area Managers and support them in planning work to be completed during outage periods, this will of course require frequently communication with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate said work.

Whilst working with the Area Managers you will need to scope out the resource requirements for the role, assessing that against the talented people we have within National Gas and in our third party arsenal ensuring that if any additional training or upskilling is required, they receive that to set them up for success and to meet the safety and quality standards required.

You will be at the forefront of scoping projects, completing funding request forms, getting onsite with suppliers and contractors and working with the internal investment team to get funding approval.

The experience you have developed to date will help you build cost estimates taking into account plant, labour, materials and other potential expenditures. You will also manage the G35 process and the financial close out process.

To be successful in the role you will need a strong working knowledge of Construction projects and as such CDM contracts. Knowledge of the National Gas' processes and procedures in this space is advantageous.

At National Gas, we really take the time to understand what you want to achieve out of your role and career, that's why we encourage people to speak about their personalised development plan early on. This might be developing in your existing role, you might even have your sights set on a higher level position, whatever it is we will give you the support and tools needed to succeed.

We are proud of our role at the heart of Britain's energy system. Our skilled colleagues bring gas to around 23m homes and over 200,000 businesses, including heavy industries and power stations that keep the lights on, all whilst enabling the transition of our network to hydrogen.

We are a flexible working organisation. At National Gas, we are committed to building a workforce that represents the communities we serve. We celebrate the different experiences our colleagues bring to our organisation, and strongly encourage applicants of all backgrounds to apply.

Studies suggest that women tend to apply only if they meet 100% of the criteria. If you resonate with our mission and meet a good portion of our requirements, we encourage you to apply.
