Full Job Description

We are now looking for a Production Support Specialist to provide detailed technical support to the production plants. Working as part of the Process Safety & Technology Team based out of the Bradford site, your main focus will be to bridge the gap between the Technical and Operations functions and to facilitate the Knowledge Transfer process; ensuring suitable systems are used by which the transferred knowledge can be captured and retained.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with members of the Operational team to ensure that technical issues (polymerisation issues, quality problems such as poor solubility etc) in production areas are resolved quickly, and learnings from the events are captured and documented for future reference.

  • Sharing of gained knowledge with members of operational team (and others) to the benefit of improved operational effectiveness

  • Working with members of the technical, operational and maintenance teams to improve accuracy and reliability of plant-based quality critical measurement systems including, but not limited to, makeup system refractometers, pH meters across numerous plant systems, dissolved oxygen measurement systems and headspace oxygen measurement systems in DPAM lines, inline measurement systems such as particle size analysis or similar.

  • Providing routine reporting and data analysis of plant technical issues where these have led either to significant periods of downtime or significant generation of wrong first time and/or reblend. Ensure systems are in place to capture these learnings for future benefit.

  • Assisting with creation and upkeep of Operating Procedures and associated Plant Information systems

  • Taking part in the site internal auditing processes.

  • Contributing to training and development of operational employees with regard to technical matters.

    A minimum of degree/ or equivalent employment experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related subject areas.

  • Analytical mindset and a desire for personal growth and learning.

  • Strong teamworking skills, but able to work under own initiative.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Specific polymer experience and experience of operating within a COMAH chemical manufacturing site preferable, but not essential.
