Researching and buying for Members. Accurate processing of related administration.
Samco are a buying group for 500 farms, from offices based in Bishop's Stortford.
Samco purchase business inputs from 350 suppliers, for their members, who farm 85,000 hectares, which is around 10% of the total cropped land in the UK Eastern Region.
By knowing members requirements, we work as an extension to their farm offices. This opportunity is to work in a fast paced, friendly office, supplying fuels, fertilisers, seeds, crop protection, building materials, electricity, gases, office supplies, machinery & workshop parts, tools, tyres, decorating materials, insurance and a whole lot more.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Answering the telephone
- Taking orders and enquiries from members
- Progressing enquiries, obtaining quotations and researching options from suppliers
- Calling and emailing members to discuss with them their best options
- Placing orders on members' accounts and placing with suppliers
- Accurate validation and processing of invoices received via email or post
- Address and resolve member and supplier queries in a timely manner
- Monthly checking of supplier statements
- Updating member details on system and adding of new members
- Processing post and emailed enquiries.
- Various office duties, to support running of the business
Essential: - Strong IT skills. Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word and Excel.
- Commercially astute
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work as part of a team
- Friendly and engaging
- Well organised and able to prioritise
- Able to conduct targeted member phone calls
- Previous work experience in administration, working with invoices and accounts
- An excellent telephone manner and ability to communicate at all levels
- Previous sales or face to face customer experience
- Experience of agriculture, agricultural supply businesses, building materials, machinery or industrial parts industry, UK food sector and country life and living
- Office ordering, invoicing and accounts processes
- Product knowledge of commodities purchased by farms
- Minimum Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
- 'A' levels, Accounting or Business skills qualifications, Self-motivated team player
- Confident and excellent communicator
- Ability to provide excellent member service
- Organised with a good attention to detail
- Determination to understand key products and processes, Accounts Receivable: 1 year (preferred)
