Full Job Description

Responsible for putting together machine parts, installing, maintaining and repairing plant and equipment. This involves assembling parts made from metals or other materials to create production equipment and machinery. Equally responsible to support on troubleshooting and fault finding electrical systems and equipment.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Mechanical Duties

  • Completing both preventative and reactive maintenance on machinery such as extraction systems, granulators and shredders, conveyors, bearings

  • Fabricating and assembling frameworks, platforms, machinery and equipment upgrades (welding including stick, tig, mig)

  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings and assist Design Engineers


  • Electrical Duties
  • Fault finding and repairing current electrical systems (control panels, electric motors)

  • Supporting electrical engineer on installation projects when required


  • General Duties
  • Maintaining daily and weekly records to ensure all engineering activity is recorded

  • Maintaining tools and equipment

  • Working to current health and safety regulations and following company health and safety policies and practices

  • Ensuring work areas and clean and safe

  • Ensuring all relevant people are communicated with for required work

  • Carrying out pre work risk assessments and ensuring safety of others at all time

    Experience in mechanical engineering

  • Qualification in welding and fabrication

  • Experience in preventive and reactive maintenance

  • Troubleshooting skills to determine electrical and mechanical malfunctions

  • Strong manual dexterity and eye to hand coordination

  • Experience resulting in good understanding of hydraulic systems and rotating equipment

  • Ability to change bearings, gearboxes and motors

  • Experience with diesel engines and yard vehicle repairs

  • Experience resulting in the comfortable use of acetylene torch, plasma cutter and stick welder

  • FLT license of experience - can be taught in-house but previous experience essential

  • IPAF license (cherry picker) - not essential

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel to support work-in-progress and engineering
