Full Job Description

Flexible working hours needed - minimum 25 hours per week, maximum 30 hours per week.

Working hours are between 8.30am and 3.45pm Monday to Friday and term time only.

Main activities:

To manage and lead a preschool room with regards to the EYFS, Ecers and ofsted requirements. The successful candidate must be confident in leading a small team and following routines and structure as set out by the manager.

To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.

To deliver play based Early Years' Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress.

To undertake designated roles as directed.

To work with parents and other professionals for the benefit of children and parents/carers.

To help ensure our preschool meets Ofsted requirements at all times.

To understand and work to our preschool policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints and emergencies.

To plan activities which ensure each child is working towards their individual next steps.

To fulfil effectively the role of the key person.

To fulfil effectively the role of Room Supervisor.

To ensure records are properly maintained, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident reports, risk assessments, kitchen checks, outing records.

To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the preschool aims and objectives in liaison with the manager, deputy manager and preschool committee.

Minimum Level 3 valid qualification

Excellent working knowledge of the Early Years' Foundation Stage and current Ofsted statutory guidance.

Knowledge and practical experience of implementing good quality learning opportunities.

At least 2 years relevant childcare experience.

Empathy and understanding of children under 5.

Excellent verbal communication skills with children and their parents/carers.

Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records.

Excellent organisation skills.

Basic IT skills (We use Tapestry to track child development)

Calm and caring nature.

Ability to work as part of a team!!

Able to work on own initiative.

Reliable, enthusiastic and flexible.

A commitment to quality in all areas, with a high level of motivation and enthusiasm.

Able to perform under stress.

A creative thinker.

A good sense of humour.

Desirable criteria:

Paediatric first aid certificate.

Food hygiene certificate.

Safeguarding certificate.

Prevent certificate.

SENCO trained (or willing to learn)
