Full Job Description

  • Ensuring that the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff and others.

  • Developing partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child's development.

  • Be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Deputy Nursery Manager/Nursery Manager to complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship.

  • Engaging children in learning and play activities.

  • Keeping and updating records.

  • Maintaining a high standard of operation.

  • Attending staff meetings.

  • To keep a record of achievement file on children, for parents/carers.

  • Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g., preparation of snacks and equipment.

  • Recording accidents in the accident book.

  • To contribute to a planned programme of activities suitable to the age range of children., At the end of the apprenticeship you will achieve Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) along with English and maths Functional Skills if you don't already have them.

  • You will complete your training at Stepping Stones Day Nursery, Market Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE16 3ED

  • Training will be one day per week

    Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Presentation skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Physical fitness, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) Desired

    • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) Desired

    Stepping Stones Day Nursery is in a convenient location, just minutes away from the Metro Centre and the A1 and also very accessible from Newcastle, Gateshead & the Team Valley. We are registered to care for up to 94 children between the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years. Our nursery has four different rooms all with CCTV, The Baby Room, Duckling room, Cygnet room and the Pre-School room which have a range of equipment and toys that are stimulating and educational while also being age-appropriate, we also have a large outdoor area that contains a hard, grassed and soft surface so the children get plenty time outdoors as we believe it is a big part of their learning environment.
