Full Job Description

This exciting new role for Lead Software Modelling Engineer is responsible for the design and development of embedded in-house software solutions for climate, seating, and body controller systems, using a model-based design approach including code generation and software unit testing.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside other squad developers in an Agile framework to design and deliver software components for the before mentioned products for deployment onto multiple lead products across JLR's luxury vehicle platforms. You will also be responsible for the application development and refactoring of the current body software components for deployment onto Classic AutoSAR platforms.,

  • Sub-system requirements analysis - carry out a range of analysis and investigations of internal customer requirements to define the expected software behaviour functionality and performance targets.

  • Software Model Architecture Design - using JLR standard model architecture tools such as SystemComposer and SystemDesk, create the frame models required for each software component.

  • Software Design Specification - prepare software control and interface requirement specifications that will work within the defined architecture.

  • Model based software design - using JLR standard control modelling toolsets such as Simulink and Stateflow, develop software designs to meet the system software requirements.

  • Perform Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) unit testing and lead peer reviews of developer models and scripts as well as lead technical reviews and perform integration analysis on level 3 Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) functional testing.

  • Manage the development and deployment of software control functions and features onto multiple software architectures.

    Strong experience and knowledgeable in climate control software products.

  • Experience of working in an embedded software engineering environment within the Automotive Sector.

  • Model based software engineering using industry tools such as MatLab, Simulink, Embedded Coder, TargetLink,

  • Relevant experience of model-based software development, auto-code generation, MIL and SIL testing, software requirements specification and software integration techniques.


  • Experience in working in an Agile environment and understanding of Scrum methodology
