Full Job Description

Working with the School Finance Business Partner, you will provide strategic and operational financial leadership, business partnering and planning, providing decision support and lead on developing outstanding management information for the Schools stakeholders.

You will manage a team of 11 staff situated both in the School Office and situated in Faculties across the School, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the School Office finance function. As well as lead on financial budgeting and forecasting, in line with University planning processes.

  • You will be a qualified accountant with significant post-qualified operational experience gained in complex matrix organisations.

  • Experience in the HE sector is not essential but would be advantageous.

  • You will have experience managing a medium to large team, planning team workload and providing management support.

  • You will have strong influencing and analytical skills and be able to demonstrate excellent communication.


  • You will be leading, alongside the Finance Business Partner, an outstanding existing team and will be a key player in continuing to build and expand the excellent professional and supportive relationship this team has with those they work alongside.

    The Finance Division is implementing a Financial Transformation Project across the University; you will be an integral part of driving change management initiatives and its implementation in the School and its Institutions. You will have the opportunity to be involved with finance transformation projects including Financial Systems Replacement (FSR) and Enhanced Financial Transparency (EFT)., The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role.

    Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
