Full Job Description

As a Communications Specialist, you'll create compelling narratives, multimedia content, share our stories and help us connect with the right people.

We want someone who will help make our social media stand out, come up with creative ideas, and help us through our exciting merger with Melin Homes.

Specifically, the Communications Specialist will:

  • Support teams to create engaging content for established internal and external channels to support proactive campaigns and reactive activities, (e.g., news articles, social media posts and interactions, blogs, vlogs, films, newsletters, and case studies) to maximise engagement with target audiences in line with our annual Communications plan.

  • Work with colleagues across NCH to support teams needing communications support (e.g. proof reading, editing, web publishing, social media, comms planning, aligning messaging) to make sure all internal and external communications we issue are relevant, timely, accessible and use appropriate language, tone and branding.

  • Day-to-day management of NCH communication channels, including liaising with teams to plan and schedule content internally and externally.

  • Monitor and evaluate communications activity performance through key performance indicators and regular measurement reporting to inform and support the delivery of our communications framework and annual Communications plan.

  • Act as a social media lead by planning, auditing and evaluating our social media channels.

  • Work with colleagues to identify effective processes and improved ways of working to make sure our social media channels are managed effectively as a customer service and engagement channel.

  • Work with teams across the association to identify good news stories to maximise positive coverage and engagement with our colleagues, customers and communities.

  • Develop and maintain a suite of materials for use in reactive and planned communications activities including core scripts, bank text and generic presentations on frequently asked questions as part of our Communications Toolbox.

  • Work with teams across the association to develop and delivered targeted and relevant communications campaigns that contribute to the delivery of our strategic priorities.

  • Carry out any other duty as requested by the Communications Manager in support of the association and emerging objectives and policies.

We do not require recruitment agency support at this time - all speculative CV's will be treated as a direct application.

  • Your NCH, our comprehensive benefits package:

Check out our total reward package and benefits calculator here: https://yournch.newportcityhomes.com/

We believe NCH is a great place to work and it's important to us that our people feel the same way.

As well as offering varied and fulfilling careers, we want every colleague to feel appreciated. That means having the best possible benefits package, the flexibility to maintain a great work-life balance and the opportunity to achieve your full potential.

    Enhanced Pension Scheme:
We operate two pension schemes, one with Aviva Pensions, and one with the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). Aviva Pensions is a defined contribution pension scheme. LGPS is a defined benefit pension scheme with generous employer contribution values. You may be able to transfer in any other pension you have within your first year of service.

    Enhanced Annual Leave:
You'll start on 25 days annual leave (+ Bank Holidays) which would increase to 30 days following 3 years' service.

Agile Working Policy (dependent on role):
NCH work with the philosophy that 'work is something you do rather than somewhere you go.'

    Health and Wellbeing:
We have many health and wellbeing policies and initiatives such as Cycle to Work, Enhanced Maternity/Paternity/Adoption and Sick leave and a sabbatical leave policy.

    Development:
We offer many professional and personal development options such as paying for professional membership, sponsored study opportunities and career progression and development.
